A small non-profit organization with a big impact says there is one thing holding them back—a lack of funding.
Diver and founder of Clean Harbours Initiative, Shawn Bath says they are in need of supplies and volunteers, and they cannot do it alone.
The organization organizes clean ups around wharves in the province taking thousands of items from the oceans.
Bath says they need the public’s support to continue to remove tires, glass, ghost gear and garbage. They have been trying to gather funds on GoFundMe and through sponsorships from locals.
He says if they could get $400 a week, that would keep them in the water. In an ideal world, he says $4,000 coming in would allow them to buy gas, supplies and wages for people to help.
Bath does not take any of the money raised for himself, but he has made the initiative like his full time job. He says he can’t give up now.
He says he has gone so far that if he stops, he is afraid nobody else would take the time to do what he has.
