Even the creator of the Newfoundland Turnip says he’s “blown away” by the popularity of the Facebook page.
This week, the Turnip ventured into controversial territory by asking people to reply with their most controversial Newfoundland opinion.
Answers varied from the City of Mount Pearl which offered up: “Lab City is a town, but Mount Pearl is city, in town” to “Mary Brown’s is better than mudder’s Jigg’s dinner.”
Creator of the Newfoundland Turnip, Mike – who prefers not to use his last name – says one one of the responses really jarred him. He says someone said they didn’t like salt meat and he laughs, saying he felt like blocking him.
The page already has over 160,000 likes and Mike says, he’s considering taking it even farther.
He’s considering developing a website, to sell some merchandise, allow people to communicate, and provide opportunities to raise money for good causes.
