2019 has been a deadly year on the province’s highways.
Twenty-four people have lost their lives as the result of 18 separate crashes according to RCMP.
Staff Sergeant David Ossinger says the sad fact is, is that many of those deaths could have been prevented.
Of the 24 people who died, 13 were not wearing seatbelts, while four of those who died were under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Half of all the fatal collisions involved vehicles crossing the centre line, a fact that could signal impaired driving, distracted driving, or both.
RCMP are applauding new signs erected on highways by the provincial government, indicating the number of fatalities on roadways for the current year.
Police are hoping the signs resonate with the public and lead to safer driving practices.
