It’s expected that the fall fiscal update from government will happen this week or next.

Finance Minister Tom Osborne got an update from his officials yesterday, and they are putting the finishing touches on the update. He expects to have a firm date for the release of the update it in a couple of days.

The update gives an indication of where government is in its financial planning for the year, and whether it will meet its targets.

Elimination of the deficit, once the cornerstone of Liberal objectives, now appears to have waned somewhat in terms of priority.
