A woman charged in connection with the collision that claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy in Cow Head two years ago has been acquitted in provincial court.
Neila Blanchard of Parsons Pond was arrested and charged with dangerous driving causing death after the vehicle she was operating struck and killed Justin Hynes as he was walking to school.
Justice Valerie Marshall found that while there is no doubt the collision caused the tragic death of Justin Hynes, the Crown failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Blanchard’s driving was a marked departure from the norm.
She was subsequently acquitted of the charge of dangerous driving causing death.
