A dairy farm on the Great Northern Peninsula is expanding their milking herd with the help of $400,000 from the Canadian Agriculture Partnership.
Cornerstone Farm in Cormack has been operating since 2005. They started with a herd of around 40 cows and have been increasing their herd ever since.
With help from the partnership and Provincial Agrifoods Assistance Program, the farm has been able to upgrade their barn to install free-stall milking stations.
The new barn will allow the farm to house and milk 175 animals.
Provincial Agrifoods Assistance Programs and the partnership together provided $2-million in funding to farms in the province last year.
