An addition to a popular destination in Quidi Vidi Village has been approved by St. John’s city council.
Last night the city approved an application for an outdoor lounge area at the Quidi Vidi Brewery.
The lounge will be built on the harbour side of the property and will have hours of operation similar to the Tap Room located inside the building, with the only difference being a closing time of 10 p.m. for the lounge on weeknights.
Residents have raised concerns about things such as noise levels and increased traffic in the area.
Councilor Hope Jamieson introduced an amendment to have the lounge close at 10 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday as a compromise to help mitigate concerns about noise, and she says parking is something the city is actively trying to improve.
For example, they recently added public parking on Cadet Road and are installing signs that direct visitors on where to park.
