The minister responsible for forestry says temporary shutdown of Corner Brook Pulp and Paper is not a smoking gun or bellwether for hard times.
The paper mill will close over the Christmas holidays, but Minister Gerry Byrne says the reason is to reduce inventory.
That’s a problem for many paper mills these days.
Byrne this is something which has happened in the past. They don’t like it, but they hope the company remains viable for a long time.
