The overpopulation of cats on Little Bay Islands is being tackled by multiple groups of volunteers and some of the cats are finding new homes.
The clock is ticking down on the community and the many feral cats that live there as the ferry leaves for the last time on December 31.
Volunteers from Nova Scotia were able to rescue 35 cats and kittens on their trip to the island, placing them in their own kennels – possibly being the first warm and dry place the felines have been. But that is not all of them.
A group from Deer Lake are in the community to catch more in the coming days.
