The Northeast Eagles Peewee Hockey Team presented a cheque for $21,500 to Rainbow Riders yesterday afternoon.
The money was raised through the hockey team’s Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup and has been used to purchase a much needed utility vehicle.
Eagles player, Jack Steele says the team raised $2,000 by selling tickets. Local businesses then began donating and matching the teams contributions.
Steele says he is happy his team was able to make this donation because the Rainbow Riders deserve it and they really needed the new equipment.
Rainbow Riders unveiled their new RTV Sidekick with an electric hydrolic power lift to the team and riders during the cheque presentation.
Executive Director of Rainbow Riders, Kelly Sandoval says she is both inspired and over the moon thanks to the teams generosity .
Sandoval says the donation will go a long way. She says the barn has 16 horses now and the equipment will lighten the load for the barn staff and volunteers.
