Stormy weather is making its way across the island as schools in the Marystown-Burin area have shut down for the rest of the day.
Schools on the west coast and southwest coast closed earlier today as the area is under a blizzard warning.
The snow squalls will last for the rest of the day and continue into tomorrow. The difference tomorrow though is that winds will gradually subside throughout the day.
Marine Atlantic has cancelled its daytime sailings from Port aux Basques and North Sydney, due to the weather conditions, with crossings tentatively set to resume at 11:45 p.m.
There is also another system they are watching that could hit the island on Thursday.
