The Leader of the NL Alliance believes there needs to be a voice from outside the House of Assembly on the committee for democratic reform.
The committee is made up of members of the House from each party, that will look at ways to change the party system and make a difference.
Graydon Pelley says before anything else can change in the province, democratic reform has to take place. He recommends an independent outside committee be formed separate from the House to deal with the issue.
Pelley believes the committee should be given the resources to research, hear testimony and explore every option out there for true political reform.
Unless that happens, Pelley says he can’t see any changes in the political system or reform that is needed here in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Pelley says party politics aren’t working in the province, and true political reform is not going to happen if people have to depend on the party system to come up with the new way things will be done.
