22-year-old Jesse Lewis has been sentenced to five years in prison in connection with an October 2017 crime spree that took police on a car chase which lasted several hours.
Lewis was accused of driving a car at high speeds from Conception Bay Center to St. John’s and back again.
Once in the capital city, Lewis exited the first vehicle he had taken and forced a woman from a van that also had three children inside. Lewis was armed with a screwdriver while demanding the woman hand over the vehicle.
Judge Colin Flynn referred to the carjacking charge as the most serious offence.
Lewis was involved in several accidents which caused injuries to a number of people.
