Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro has pushed back the dates for Muskrat Falls, albeit slightly.
It had hoped to have one of the four units at Muskrat operational by about mid-January but that will now be around the first week of February. It will be late summer before all four units are operational.
Nalcor president and CEO Stan Marshall says the power from Muskrat will be used in Labrador, allowing them to use excess power for the export market.
The Labrador-Island Link (LIL) won’t be operational until the software from GE can be integrated into the system. Marshall expects power will be flowing to the island in time for next winter.
They have spoken with others who have GE software and he’s confident it will be functioning by the last quarter of the calendar year.
