This is one of the busiest weekends for traffic and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary are reminding drivers to slow down and be aware of surroundings.

Constable James Cadigan says if you are going have a few drinks during the holidays, ensure you arrange a safe ride home with a designated driver or a cab.

He says officers will be enforcing safety on the highways throughout the weekend and all throughout the holidays.

He says everyone needs to work together and if you are doing shopping be sure that all items are locked away safely or out of sight.
