The Salvation Army had a busy week finishing up some of their Christmas campaigns in the Metro area.
Block a Jiffy and Pack the Back clewed up on Thursday, filling vehicles with toys and other items for youth through the Salvation Army.
Major Rene Loveless says the events are not just successful because of one or two individuals – it takes the whole community coming together.
He says there is so much generosity, so much giving back and so much Christmas spirit.
The Salvation Army are making sure that the gifts are distributed and that Christmas is special for everyone.
Happy Tree Still Accepting Donations
Another Salvation Army campaign that is not yet complete for the year is the VOCM Cares Happy Tree Campaign.
Happy is still accepting donations at the Avalon Mall at his new location across from Winners and the need never goes away. Donations will be accepted until December 23.
He says close to 2,000 families have already registered to receive support this Christmas. They provided hampers to 1,500 families and toys were provided to 1,800 children in the metro region last year.
