One of the most exciting moments of the year for Deputy Mayor of St. John’s, Sheilagh O’Leary, was a resolution to help make communities more baby friendly.

At the 2019 Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador Conference, held this past November, O’Leary put forward a breastfeeding motion for municipalities across the province to work with the BabyFriendly Council of NL, as well as other health sector partners to adopt breastfeeding friendly community practices.

O’Leary reiterates just how important such a resolution is for families and how it helps create safer and healthier communities for mothers and babies.
