Dogs love Christmas too, and with many people looking to get presents for pooches it’s important to know which ones might best be avoided.
There are plenty of healthy treat options on the market for all manner of pets.
But trainer Rose Browne of Dynamic Canines says one of the most popular options can be dangerous. She says you often see cheap, dyed green rawhide strips, sometimes shaped like candy canes or what have you, which are usually best to avoid.
Really, Browne says, rawhide in general is something to pass on, as while there are better types of chews the low-end types can shatter and get lodged in a dog’s stomach.
She says going for meat chews or pizzles is a better idea.
