The CEO of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Technology and Innovation says the province’s tech sector is bigger than other well-known industries like tourism, the fishery and agriculture.
The Brookfield Institute predicts the creation of 2,000 jobs in the industry in the next four to five years according to NATI’s Paul Preston.
He says there was a great uptick in the creation of tech sector companies in the last year, and support and innovation are the keys.
He says the Genesis Centre and MUN’s Centre for Entrepreneurship have helped to incubate young companies. NATI also offers support to new companies.
