Premier Ball says 2020 will start out with much of the conversation being around electricity rates.
Ball has committed to not letting electricity rates double once Muskrat Falls comes online.
After that, the focus will be on budget preparation.
Ball says they’ll be working with opposition parties, and they need to do a better job inside the House of Assembly on working in collaboration, similar to what Ball says he’s done with Conservative and NDP Leaders across the country.
He believes that approach can work here as well.
Ball says it will be a busy 2020.
When it comes to rate mitigation, Ball claims that he and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau are focused on putting rate mitigation factors in place.
He says they’re taking a deep-dive into the financial structure of Muskrat Falls.
The Premier states that everyone agrees, whether it be federal colleagues or other Premiers, that electricity rates are not affordable if they were to double.
Ball says it is his job and his priority to prevent that from happening and he says he will.
He says they will be successful although it will take a lot of collaboration and meetings, but the Premier is confident they will get there.
