The first babies born in the province in 2020 received a safe ride home thanks to the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association.
The NLMA has donated 10 new car seats to the New Year’s Babies born in each of the 10 hospitals that perform routine deliveries.
Kalina Bishop was the first baby born in the province at 5:57 a.m. on January 1 at the Janeway Health and Rehabilitation Centre in St. John’s. She weighed eight pounds and four ounces.
Former NLMA President Dr. Tracey Bridger presented the car seat to parents Sabrina Roberts and Chris Bishop.
The car seat program reminds all parents to use approved car seats from the moment they leave the hospital with their bundle of joy.
