The Mayor of Bay Roberts says a celebration will be planned to mark Team Canada’s victory at the World Junior Championships.

Bay Roberts native Dawson Mercer was part of the team that brought home Gold following a hard-fought battle against Russia in the Czech Republic.

Philip Wood says it’s not clear when Mercer will be home since he was traded yesterday to Chicoutimi from Drummondville and is expected to settle in with his new team once he gets back from Europe.

He’s in the line-up for Chicoutimi on Friday, so it’s not clear if he’ll get home to Bay Roberts before that.

Regardless, the town is planning a big celebration when Mercer arrives back on home soil.
