This week’s heavy snowfall helped police catch up with a person they believe to be a thief.
Bay Roberts RCMP responded when a commercial alarm went off yesterday morning at about 6:15. Surveillance footage showed a man leaving a business in South River with a quantity of alcohol.
Officers saw fresh foot tracks in the snow and followed them back to a residence in South River. A 45-year-old man matching the surveillance footage was located at the residence—booze and all.
He was arrested and later released from custody with a number of conditions including a court appearance on February 19. One of the charges is breach of probation.
