Police are on the scene of a two vehicle collision on Route 230 about five kilometers south of Melrose.
There were two people in each vehicle. One man has been taken to hospital with unknown, but serious injuries. The three others sustained minor injuries.
The highway is reduced to one lane in the area at this time, and drivers are asked to slow down and use caution in the area as there are whiteout conditions at this time.
Traffic service analysts are on route to the scene.
The RCMP is advising of whiteout conditions all along Route 230 from Bonavista through to the Trans-Canada Highway.
