A major loss for fans of Canadian prog-rock band Rush, Neil Peart passed away this week at the age of 67.
According to a release from Rush, Peart passed away on Tuesday after a 3.5-year battle with Glioblastoma—a type of brain cancer.

Peart was also the main lyricist for the band over his nearly 45-year career, holding top credits on many of the band’s top tracks.
While Peart retired from Rush in 2015, he’s gone down in music history for his skill and technique with the drums. He was often recognized for his use of an elaborate drumset, which encircled Peart during performances.
The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
