It’s a bitterly cold day on the island and colder in Labrador.
A cold snap throughout the province resulted in overnight temperatures including the wind chill of -25 on the Avalon, -33 in St . Anthony and a bonechilling -43 in Wabush.
Rob Carroll with the Gander weather office says the cold air followed the mid-week snow and rain, and was sucked down onto the province in the storm’s wake.
He says it won’t last, but it’s going to take a while to warm up.
Carroll says we’re only going to get up to around -8 by supper time, but temperatures will continue to rise, hitting zero again by Saturday morning.
