The city of St. John’s will be allowing food stores to open their doors for a period tomorrow to allow residents to replenish supplies.
If it is officially extended, tomorrow will be day five of a state of emergency in the city.
Concerns from residents have been rampant over the last number of days about basic supplies running short, with many people calling for the city to allow food stores to open.
Stores selling basic foods will be permitted to open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. , including supermarkets, convenience stores and pharmacies.
It does not include bars, restaurants, fast food chains and outlets.
The city says to be prepared to purchase enough food to do your family for 48 hours. Other opportunities to open the stores will be evaluated as conditions warrant.
