As the Avalon region continues to dig itself out from the storm many have dubbed ‘Snowmageddon,’ the area was plagued by a bit of a different problem, yesterday.
Several reports have come forward that moose had found their way to communities along the Avalon Peninsula, and were getting a bit too friendly around properties.
One hooved hooligan caused some trouble in the capital city on Wednesday evening.
Officials were called in when a moose had somehow worked its way to the centre city area of St. John’s, and quickly became a nuisance.
The animal was having trouble dealing with high snowbanks in the area, and kept veering into roadways.
Through some effort, the moose was eventually led to a wooded area, where it fled from the scene.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth Clairmont posted photos from Holyrood, showing a moose that had climbed a snow drift near her home, to snack on their apple tree. The large animal was perched on a hill which peaked above the nearby roof of her home.
She said she was worried the animal might end up on her roof, as the snow accumulation reached her eaves.
