Memorial University is extending its winter semester to make up time lost as a result of the week-long state of emergency in St. John’s.
Memorial University says seven teaching days have been lost since January began and a real possibility for more snow days over the winter.
As a result, “extraordinary measures” are required to preserve the academic integrity of the semester for students taking degree courses at MUN’s St. John’s and Marine Institute campuses.
- The end of the semester has been moved from Friday, April 3 to Thursday, April 9 to make up four days. Saturday, March 28 will make up the fifth day.
- The study break between the end of classes and the start of exams will be reduced from four to three days. The exam period is being moved from April 8-18 to April 13-21.
- There will be no changes to the week-long winter break at this time, but that could change if more days are lost due to weather.
- The release of grades is moving from April 23 to the 25.
MUN advises that more changes may be made to make up lost time. The changes do not affect courses taught at Grenfell Campus, Western Regional School of Nursing or Harlow.
