The Canadian Union of Public Employees has rejected the provincial government’s request to extend their current collective agreement for another two years. Instead, they are demanding to go back to the bargaining table.
President Sherry Hillier says their 3,700 members reluctantly accepted a zero wage increase and lost severance packages last time around.
Now, she says, they want to get down to what she calls “meaningful bargaining,” improving contract language and ensure the safety of their pensions.
