While over a week of snow days are nothing to ignore, the English School District isn’t looking to extend the school year just yet.
Students are back in school in the northeast Avalon region today. While MUN is looking to extend the semester, as of yet the NLESD does not feel extra days are necessary.
CEO and Director of Education for NLESD Tony Stack says while it was a substantial delay, they have dealt with worse.
He says in areas of the province outside metro they have occasionally lost as many as 15-20 days of instructional time in a term.
Stack says he believes in their teachers to be able to make up that time in class and adjust the curriculum accordingly.
