Three artists from this province are up for Junos.
Local singer-songwriter Tim Baker of Hey Rosetta fame has been nominated in the Songwriter of the Year category for his 2019 album Forever Overhead featuring the songs “All hands”, “The Dance” and “The Eighteenth Hole”.
Another artist who is originally from this province, Matt Maher, is up for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year, for his album The Advent of Christmas.
Bekah Simms, originally from St. John’s, is nominated for the second year in a row for Classical Composition of the Year. She’s being recognized for her work “Everything Is… Distorted”.
The lead nominee for the Juno Awards just happens to be the host of the 49th annual edition of the awards show.
Alessia Cara has six nominations, including album and record of the year. Other nominees include Bryan Adams, Shawn Mendes, Avril Lavigne , Justin Bieber and The Weeknd.
The Junos will be March 15 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
