This week marked the one year anniversary of the devastating fire at the Community Food Sharing Association on Topsail Road.
The group, which distributes food to food banks throughout the province, lost its inventory and was forced to relocate as a result, spurring a huge community effort to help restock shelves.
General Manager Eg Walters says government, the corporate community and individuals throughout the region all pulled together to get them where they are today.
The Community Food Sharing Association is now located in Eastern Health’s former kitchen facility and they’re still on the scout for a permanent location. He thanked government for helping them set up and continue to provide services in the interim.
He says donations to the Community Food Sharing were up in 2019.
