Kids and families are gathering in Bowering Park this morning for the annual Winter Bird Count for Kids, an event hosted by Nature NL and Birds Canada.
Jared Clarke of Bird the Rock says it’s a great event to get kids out in nature.
Volunteers, including himself, will be on hand to help teach children and their families about birds, and take them on a stroll through the park to look for birds and count them. He says it’s all about citizen science which is so important these days.
The event gets underway this morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Peter Pan statue in Bowering Park.
