There’s a lot of slipping and sliding going on out there as a heavy dose of rain Sunday on the Avalon followed a blast of snow.
The ice will be around all week but things warm up considerably on Friday.
Environment Canada says the Avalon got 15 cm of snow and over 20 mm of rain, leaving sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and some roads covered in ice. The rest of the island was pelted with heavy snow including the west coast where it is still snowing with about 20 cm already down.
Environment Canada meteorologist David Neal says they have their eye on another system which will hit the Avalon by the end of the work week.
It could bring significant rainfall and temperatures in the high single digits.
