Being awarded a scholarship can be exciting for students and one recipient of the recent TradesNL awards is encouraging people to apply for whatever they can.

Jack Simms received the one of the $2000 scholarships this week. He is a student at Marine Institute studying Remotely Operated Vehicles.

Simms says that as a student himself, it is important to apply for all the opportunities.

He says you cannot be selected if you do not apply.

Simms explained that when he was applying for scholarships, he figured his application would get lost among a large number of applicants but there were only 50 applications.

He says people need to know they meet requirements because sometimes they do not even realize what’s available.
