Discussions have continued with Ottawa on how the 50,000 employees who lost work hours during the State of Emergency can be compensated.
Premier Dwight Ball says they have come to the conclusion that it would be difficult to use the EI program to support workers in that situation.
He says they are still considering other ways and the federal government is not closing the doors on the province.
Premier Ball hopes that they have a solution for low income earners and he says they do have programs available through the Department of Advanced Education Skills and Labour.
He states that they are confident in finding a solution.
He says the province has been through it in many instances before where services have been cut off and, sometimes, they have been without access to services for weeks at a time so it is not new to the province.
