A fundraiser which was created out of high school volunteerism is helping to connect people in need with critical medical treatment.
Brenda Chaytor says her daughter, Lauren, started the Seal with Hope fundraiser as a part of a volunteering requirement at her school.
She decided to partner with Always in Vogue on Water Street to sell some seal skin products to help fly people from Labrador to St. John’s for cancer treatment.
Chaytor says the first fundraiser was 5 years ago and has become a huge success.
They have raised $47,000 to date, resulting in over 900 flights.
This year, there is a seal skin coat to be won.
Tickets on the prize at $20 each and are being sold at Vogue Furriers on Water Street and Hair Connection / Samshara Day Spa on Stavanger Drive.
The draw is this Friday.
