Ultimate NL has launched a new program to help schools with all of their ultimate frisbee needs.
The “discs for schools” program is one in which schools can request free discs from Ultimate NL to be delivered to the school so they can learn, play and compete in the sport.
Ultimate NL President, Nick House says ultimate frisbee is starting to be played in more schools in the province, and they noticed right away that schools simply do not have the equipment to play the sports they want to play.
You only really need the regulation discs to be able to play ultimate frisbee, and many schools didn’t know where to find them.
Ultimate NL teamed up with the Veterinary Specialty Clinic, which House says greatly increased the amount of schools they can reach.
He says he has a pallet of about 800 frisbees sitting at home that they are ready to distribute all across the island in the coming weeks.
House says the demand for discs is quite high, and they have enough to give to every school in the province.
He says since they launched the program they’ve had requests from over 40 schools and it’s the first time they’ve ever offered free discs to any school that wants one.
