A Newfoundlander who has lived in China for the last nine months with his wife and young son says tensions remain high in the region with the new Coronavirus.
More than 45,000 people globally have been infected. More than 1,100 people have died, with all but one of those fatalities in China.
Chris Walsh says some stores require people to know what they want before they even enter, otherwise you are turned away. To get in and out of some apartment complexes, people have to show identification, have their temperature checked, and sign in and out.
Walsh says security measures keep increasing, despite having already strict measures in place. He says masks are mandatory if you go outside in general. Stores are turning people away without them.
Walsh says he has no plans to leave China to come back to Canada as his family is afraid to leave and go to the airport with the high risk of getting infected while on the plane.
