The province has lost one of its most colourful and memorable citizens.
Randy Lieb, who came to Newfoundland in the 1970s from Germany, has passed away. He was 83.
Leib is perhaps best known for moving to Woody Island, a resettled community in Placentia Bay, eventually becoming its only permanent resident. He built a home there which has since become a tourist attraction.
He was also a frequent contributor to VOCM Open Line over the years, often sharing pointed and different perspectives on the issues of the day.
The funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26th from St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Corner Brook. Details today.
