The RNC’s review of all homicide files in its jurisdiction dating back to January of 2016 has been completed with no issues discovered.
The review was launched following the discovery of two separate cases of cross-contamination of DNA evidence at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The cases first publicly came to light after the January trial of Steve Bragg, accused in the murder of Victoria Head, was indefinitely postponed. The two cases of cross contamination identified were separate from evidence gathered as part of the Victoria Head murder investigation.
Justice Minister Andrew Parsons indicated at the time that the investigation was launched as the result of prosecutors and law enforcement exercising “an abundance of caution.”
The RNC says Director of Forensics and Property Control, Katheryn Rodgers, a forensic scientist and DNA expert, found no issues as a result of her review.
