A peaceful protest in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en First Nation is planned for today in Corner Brook.
Organizers are inviting supporters to join them this afternoon at noon in Remembrance Square to show their support. Protests against the northern BC pipeline project, which crosses traditional Wet-suwet’en territory, have blocked rail service on Exo’s Candiac line for five days.
The issue blew up last week when RCMP raided blockades last week, sparking Canada-wide demonstrations in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en First Nation.
Similar demonstrations took place in St. John’s earlier this week.
