Corner Brook’s decision to allow all terrain vehicles to drive on select streets is reaping benefits for the city.
Mayor Jim Parsons says they took a very conservative approach when deciding to allow ATVs on some streets back in May, and so far, it’s proven to be a success.
Parsons says while the city is still conducting a review of the overall impact, some tourism operations have already reported a boost in numbers as a direct result.
Based on that success, they’re now looking at expanding the program to other downtown areas.
Parsons says the city is now in the process of developing a summer festival to draw more ATV tourism to the region.
“Jigs and Wheels” will build on ATVs being able to access and park in the downtown, and partake in excursions throughout the city.
