Members of the Canadian Coast Guard were honoured during a special ceremony at Government House today.
Canadian Coast Guard Exemplary Service medals are given to members of the coast guard who have been serving for at least 20 years and have worked in potentially dangerous circumstances for at least ten of those years.

In total, nine people received medals, eight of whom were in attendance at the ceremony.
Their names were individually called to receive the honour for their longstanding careers in what can be a treacherous environment, and for providing exemplary service in critical situations.
Lieutenant Governor Judy Foot presided over the ceremony. She says she holds the coast guard in very high esteem, and notes there are about 250 combined years of service between all of the recipients.
