The Leader of the Official Opposition congratulated and thanked Dwight Ball for his public service, before going on the attack when speaking to media about the Premier’s resignation.
Ches Crosbie says Ball’s resignation comes at an unfortunate time for the province, as there are problems to wrestle with that are larger than the province has faced in decades.
He says the province needs someone at the top of a vigorous government who is committed to solving these problems, and has the confidence of the public, and their caucus.

Crosbie said, “Now, regrettably, we have a ‘lame duck’ Premier and an improbability of the kind of vigorous action we require to tackle these problems any time soon.”
The Opposition Leader believes that the next Premier or Liberal Leader will be burdened by all of the accumulated baggage of “corruption and incompetence” by which the current Ball government is weighed down.
Crosbie states that it’s not going to be easy to shake. He claims the next premier is going to have a “big problem” convincing the public that they represent the turning of the page, and a fresh start on what he terms the colossal problems the province has to face. Crosbie wishes them luck.
