The Opposition wants to know what’s happening with a promised compensation package for wage earners affected by Snowmageddon.
The capital city imposed an eight day State of Emergency, forcing the closure of roads and businesses to allow for clean-up from the record-breaking January 17 blizzard.
The provincial government indicated that work was underway with Ottawa to identify relief for wage earners who couldn’t make an income during the State of Emergency, but since then, little else has been said.
Opposition critic David Brazil says the loss in wages has had a major impact. He can’t understand why a program hasn’t been announced as a one-off.
He says regardless of the circumstances, banks want their mortgage payments and landlords want their rent.
