Eastern Health is responding following a recent complaint about the presence of mice a the Waterford Hospital.
The health authority says it has a protocol in place when rodents are seen in or near Eastern Health facilities. While it is not aware of a specific increase in rodent activity at the Waterford, it does call in pest control services at all of its facilities from time-to-time.
Other measures include the distribution of mouse traps, ultrasonic rodent repellers both inside and outside the building and weekly visits by a pest control company.
Food at the facility is also stored in sealable rubber containers.
