Eddie Joyce calls Premier Dwight Ball’s decision to stay on in the province’s top job even though he’s announced his intention to step down a “chaotic situation.”
Premier Ball has indicated he will stay on until a Liberal leadership process is complete and a new leader chosen, something that could take months.
Joyce, who left the Liberal party fold amid the House of Assembly harassment scandal, says the knives are out. He says the premier knows the majority of his cabinet and caucus want him gone. Joyce questions whether the premier still carries the same authority in the current situation.
As for whether Joyce will return to the Liberal Party with Ball’s departure, Joyce says that’s unlikely.
He promised his constituents that he will not sit in caucus with Dwight Ball and Sherry Gambin-Walsh, and it wouldn’t be fair to those who elected him in to return without those conditions being met.
