An independent member of the House of Assembly is floating the idea of a coalition government, a system which he thinks can work.
Paul Lane, the MHA for Southlands-Mount Pearl, is one of two independents in the House – Eddie Joyce is the other. Lane says the minority Liberal Government is governing as if it were a majority and is not listening to other members of the House.
He says talks are underway to see if they can come to an agreement on how to govern the affairs of the people without having to go to the electorate.
The last provincial election was in May.
He doesn’t care who sits in the Premier’s chair but members of all political stripe would sit in Cabinet, including Liberals.
